Australian Forest and Climate Alliance calls on Federal Government to support Tasmanian forest solution

The Australian Forest and Climate Alliance (AFCA) calls on Federal Government to support the Tasmanian forest solution.

November 2010

AFCA has sent letters to the Minister for Environment, Minister for Forestry and Minister for Climate Change calling on them to fully support the peace deal struck between conservations and the logging industry in Tasmania in October 2010.

Minister Burke, Minister Ludwig and Minister Combet all have a crucial roles to play in delivering the protection of Tasmania’s high conservation value forests and the implementation of a transition in the Tasmanian logging industry. A timely transition is required to shift the logging industry in Tasmania out of native forest logging into a secure and sustainable plantation based industry.

AFCA has also requested meetings with the Ministers to discuss a number of issues relating to Australia’s biodiverse native forests.
