I'm putting as many waking hours as I can into Appropedia in the next few days. Hopefully I'll be having conversations with someone from Wikia about a partnership, as well as with Jimmy Wales on Wednesday. It will be helpful to have things looking as good as possible by then, both in terms of content, and the look of landing pages. If you are inspired to contribute, that would be great. I'm thinking particularly of the Green living portal. Perhaps we could also copy some of your best pages, e.g. on buildings, protecting them and linking to your wiki (directing would-be editors here). --[[User:Chriswaterguy|Chriswaterguy]] 10:23, 21 April 2007 (CDT) I'm putting as many waking hours as I can into Appropedia in the next few days.  +::Chris, please link to and copy/use any of the Greenlivingpedia content that is of use. I will be meeting with Jimmy Wales at the Melbourne meetup this week so I will attempt to discuss furthering a green living portal via Appropedia/Greenlivingpedia etc with him too. I think one of the key points (as per comments on Appropedia talk page) is that the portal should be tailored to present a relevant view on the topic and not be cluttered with other not-so-relevant information, and the URL to get to it should be intuitive and easy to find or even guess. Hi Peter, Glad to see another set of like-minded folks! Have you checked out Appropedia? We are aiming at a very similar place and hope to include all the content that you would probably include. Is there any chance we could work together? Appropedia is made up of a set of core people, all of whom started their own wikis before discovering each other and joining forces. We'd love to have a conversation about collaboration, if you're open to that. --Curtbeckmann 07:54, 5 March 2007 (CST)

Curtbeckmann, thanks for making contact. I had located Appropedia after we created Greenlivingpedia and have linked to it from our Directory. We think there is space for Greenlivingpedia to progress with a focus on sustainable housing and categorization in Australia. Let's progress with mutual collaboration and interwiki links for now, and consider merging down the track. Peter Campbell 23:29, 5 March 2007 (CST)

Hi Peter,

I've added some thoughts to the conversation on your Appropedia talk page.

I deleted the Green computing, and instead directed it to the "Information technology" page. The section on sustainability links to your page on the topic - Green computing. It was part of our porting experiment, I think, but I didn't want to leave it there without your express permission (don't want to look like we're just grabbing your content), and preferably as part of a merger, whenever that may be.
