Kitegen is an Italian company that is working on using giant kite systems to produce energy from the wind. These systems can work where conventional ground based wind turbines are not as efficient - as the kites can be flown much higher in the air to get prevailing winds.

The sport of kitesurfing highlights the massive power that wind can provide.
