The Hornsby 2020 Initiative is the development of a Sustainability Strategy that provides the future direction for Hornsby Council. The Initiative provides a framework to help Council respond to the challenges ahead and to change sustainability from an abstract concept to a daily reality.

It makes Council's strategic intent of "creating a living environment" practical and applicable, providing a consistent and integrated long term focus and direction for all Council’s action, policies, plans and strategies.

It is anticipated that the draft Sustainability Strategy will go on public exhibition in late 2008. In the interim community members have an opportunity to attend upcoming Hornsby 2020 Forums on the sustainability issues facing the Shire as we move towards Hornsby in 2020.
