A Trade Exposed Emissions Intensive Industry (TEEI) is an industry classification in Australia with the following characteristics:

  • High greenhouse gas emissions (e.g. the aluminium smelting)
  • Exposed to international market forces; either as an exporter or the manufacturer of a product that can be imported.

Industries classified as TEEIs are being considered for special treatment, including the granting of free emissions permits, under the proposed Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme
