Moving footpaths

Moving footpaths have been proposed as a solution for urban transport within cities.[1]

The Trottoir roulant rapide is an example of a moving footpath solution that was trialed in Paris Metro].[2] Users first enter a slower walkway, then a faster one, the two having metal rollers in between.
